Dave L. Smith, a beloved husband, brother, and friend, peacefully left this world on January 7, 2026, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Surrounded by family in his final moments, Dave’s warmth and kindness will forever be etched in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born on April 30, 1930, Dave led a life filled with dedication, love, and spirit. A distinguished marketing manager for XYZ Corporation for 35 years, he was a driving force behind several successful product launches, earning him the esteemed Marketing Achievement Award in 1985. His career was marked not only by accolades but also by the genuine connections he fostered with colleagues and clients alike.
An alumnus of XYZ University, where he earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Dave was recognized for his academic prowess, receiving the Outstanding Academic Achievement award in 1955. His love for learning and growth continued throughout his life, inspiring those around him to strive for their best.
Dave served his country honorably in the United States Army for 20 years, attaining the rank of Colonel. His bravery during the Vietnam War earned him the Bronze Star and Purple Heart, testaments to his unwavering courage and commitment.
Outside of his professional and military accomplishments, Dave was known for his incredible spirit and humor. He had a knack for making others feel welcomed and at ease, often using his sharp wit to lighten the mood. Friends and family will fondly remember his joyful laughter, which could fill any room.
Holidays were particularly cherished by Dave, who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his wife, Dorothy Smith, and creating precious memories. His famous apple pie, a Thanksgiving tradition, was a favorite among family and friends, exemplifying his love through his cooking and the joy he found in gathering loved ones around the table.
Dave was not only a devoted family man but also committed to giving back to the community. He volunteered regularly at a local homeless shelter, where he was honored with the Volunteer of the Year award for his selfless contributions in providing meals and support to those in need.
In his free time, Dave was an avid hiker who loved exploring every State and National Park with his wife. Their adventures were rich with shared stories and laughter as they shared their appreciation for nature's beauty.
He leaves behind a loving wife, Dorothy, a sister, Sarah Johnson, a brother-in-law, Tom Johnson, and a close friend, Rachel Lee, all of whom held a special place in his heart. He reunites in peace with his parents, Susan and John Smith Sr., who preceded him in death.
