For two decades, Raymond proudly served in the United States Army, attaining the esteemed rank of Colonel. His military service was characterized not only by its length but also by extraordinary acts of bravery, exemplified through his receipt of the revered Bronze Star and Purple Heart during the Gulf War. Raymond’s devotion to his comrades and his nation was unwavering, as he consistently prioritized the welfare of others above his own.


Beyond the rigors of military life, Raymond was a man of exceptional integrity and warmth, whose presence greatly impacted the lives of countless individuals. In reverence of this remarkable individual, a viewing will be held at Sonzini Mortuary in Columbia, SC, on February 22, 2024, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on February 23, 2024, beginning at 11:00 AM. Family and friends will unite to share stories and honor Raymond's memory, celebrating the life of a warrior, a leader, and a cherished friend.


In the spring of 2025, Raymond will be laid to rest at Cypress Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park in Colma, CA. The burial, scheduled for May 21, 2025, at 6:45 AM, will be a tender farewell, a moment for reflection embraced by the serenity of nature.


Raymond Mitchell leaves behind a rich legacy of courage and service—a narrative destined to be cherished for generations. His life stands as a testament to the power of character, love, and friendship in shaping the world.
