Ronald “Ron” Everett Simmons, 90, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025, at his home with his family nearby. Born on November 9, 1934, Ron lived a long, steady, and hardworking life grounded in humility, love, and integrity.
Ron grew up in a small farming community before serving proudly in the U.S. Navy during the mid-1950s. After completing his service, he returned home and built a lifelong career as a contractor, known for his meticulous craftsmanship and his reputation as the man who would help anyone—day or night—if he knew they were in need. To Ron, doing the right thing was simply part of who he was.
In 1962, he married his beloved wife, Eleanor, and their 58 years together were filled with devotion, partnership, and countless cherished memories. Close friends and family will forever remember Ron’s easygoing smile, his love of plaid shirts, and the way he whistled softly while working with his hands. He enjoyed fishing trips with friends, restoring old tools, and spending slow afternoons on the back porch with a cup of coffee in hand.
Ron was a proud father to two sons, Mark and Steven, and a grandfather who attended every soccer game, school play, and graduation he possibly could. His steady encouragement, practical wisdom, and unfaltering loyalty shaped the lives of generations.
Ron is survived by his sons, Mark (Laura) Simmons and Steven (Julie) Simmons; his five grandchildren; and his brother, Harold Simmons. He is preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor, and his parents, Robert and Grace Simmons.
A service celebrating Ron’s life will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Meadow Ridge Community Church. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Ron’s legacy is one of service, kindness, and quiet strength—values he demonstrated not through words, but through the way he lived every single day.
