We gather here today with heavy hearts, but also with more than a sprinkle of laughter, to celebrate the incredibly brief yet memorable life of Spencer Hilton. Born on March 1, 2026, and somehow managing to pack a full-time gig of personality into just one day on this planet, Spencer gave us all a taste of joy that we will savor for a lifetime.

Spencer had a talent for making the ordinary extraordinary. Whether it was through his famous apple pie, which he insisted would become the official Thanksgiving dessert, or simply in the way he made everyone feel welcome during the holidays, his knack for connection was unmatched. Whipping up a pie with the precision of a surgeon, he was known to say, “If crust can’t patch a broken heart, what’s the point?” The culinary delight was said to have a secret ingredient—a dash of love and a whole lot of humor.

With a heart as big as his collection of rare books, Spencer spent his hours scouring bookstores and auctions, often returning home with piles of musty tomes which he would proceed to quote at the most inappropriate times. If he wasn't meticulously organizing his collection, you could find him crafting elaborate jokes that might have been more suited to a comedian, leaving everyone in stitches while effortlessly easing any tensions in the room. Truly, a man with a laugh that was contagious and a spirit that was nothing short of welcoming.

Spencer leaves behind his beloved sister, Sarah Johnson, and her supportive husband, Tom Johnson, who loved him firmly enough to wrestle him for the last slice of pie—but also with a kindness that meant they would always share. His close friend Rachel Lee, who will likely insist she's the reason behind many of those book finds (and possibly his pie recipe), remains heartbroken but grateful for the shared laughs and adventures.

He has now joined his mother, Susan Smith; father, John Smith Sr.; and brother, James Smith—those celestial jokes, literary debates, and pie-eating contests must be something fierce up there!

Gone too soon, Spencer has reminded us all that life, while brief, is meant to be laughed at and loved. So, as we shed our tears today, let us not forget to recount our favorite Spencer stories, share that warm apple pie recipe, and maybe—just maybe—give one another the kind of kindness he so effortlessly showed. Spencer Hilton may have graced us with only one short day, but who among us can say they lived as fully as he did?
